Acorns Class - Reception and Year One
Welcome to Acorns Class’ webpage.
Acorns is our Reception and Year 1 Class, with a spacious classroom and a lovely garden area to play in.
We help your child have the very best start to their school journey in Acorns. They have a happy, busy and fun time at school with daily phonics sessions using Bug Club Phonics, Active Maths lessons, weekly Forest School sessions and lots of opportunities to develop their speaking and listening, numeracy and literacy skills as they play inside and outside. Caring staff support their social skills and help them learn how to work with each other and get along.
Specialist staff work with them too, including Mrs Alston from Shropshire Music Service and Charlotte, a PE Coach from Shrewsbury Town.
Mrs Martin is the class teacher. Miss Thompson, Miss Chase and Mrs Baker are teaching assistants who work in Acorns for some of the week or with individuals in the class.
Parents have a log in to Tapestry, our class app where we share weekly updates of what your child has learnt, phonics so that you can support your child, alongside photos of their learning and information about school.
Acorns P.E. days are Wednesday and Thursday.
Acorns Forest School day is Friday.
