Welcome to our School

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website.  We are extremely proud of all that goes on in our school. As you will see from our website our children are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents. We believe that the care and guidance offered at Christ Church CE Primary School  will allow your child to flourish.

We are a village primary school situated in the beautiful rural setting of Cressage, near Shrewsbury. Our school has a strong sense of family. Our success revolves around our creative and engaging curriculum and the warm relationships we build throughout our school community, reflecting the Christian ethos and values of our school.  We are a Church school and those values are at our core, but we welcome and serve children and families of all faiths and none.

Our school vision is “Preparing, Sowing, Growing” taken from the parable of the mustard seed – that although it is the smallest of seeds – it grows into a large tree where birds can nest.  We want to prepare our children for life in modern Britain and help them find their interests, passions and vocation.  They may be small but we want to plant seeds of encouragement, ambition and high academic expectation, so that they grow and live exciting, fulfilled lives which are for the benefit of all the community.

Our last Ofsted report was in July 2023 and we were rated ‘Good’ overall with ‘Outstanding’ in the areas of Personal Development and Behaviour and Attitudes.  The report starts with “pupils are at the heart and centre of Christ Church CE Primary School” and we believe that child-centred approach is what every parent wishes for their child.  You can read their full report here:  Christ Church CofE Primary School – Ofsted Inspection Report July 2023

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions any parent has to undertake. We do hope you find the information and content of our website helpful whether you are an existing or prospective parent.  Our weekly newsletter gives you a sense of a normal school week with learning activities, photos and diary dates.  We will help all prospective parents – whether for Nursery when children have turned 3, Reception in September or for mid-term transfer – get to know our school and hopefully answer your questions.  Our Facebook feed which is linked from this page will give you a further glimpse of school life but do come and visit us.  A website can only ever give a flavour of a community and we welcome the opportunity to show you around personally.  Each year we also publish a mini-prospectus for families whose children are joining us in September and you can find the latest copy by clicking Introduction Booklet 2023

In Autumn 2016 we had a Church School Inspection and you can read their report here: Christ Church SIAMS report

We realise that whilst our Ofsted is recent, our SIAMS report is quite old now – we are awaiting reinspection – so it might help to also look at the results of our latest survey of parents so that you can read about current parents’ experiences of our school.  We do surveys yearly and you can see the positive experience of parents from our  Parents’ Survey 2023 and our Parents’ Survey 2024 Results

We also produce a weekly newsletter which is emailed to all our families and has lots of information about learning, activities and opportunities.  You can access it below.
